Your students will love writing and drawing about the important things in their lives. They will also love sharing their All About Me book with their class. This book is great for kindergarten and 1st grade students. Not only will you get to know your students, but this book can be used as an informal assessment tool. Use the pages in their book to assess your students knowledge and beginning of the year abilities.

Make copies of the pages that you would like the students to include in their books, and place them in the writing center. As the students finish their pages, collect them and make each student their own book. Place the books into the class library so your students can read about each other. Or, save the books and have the children make a new copy at the end of the year. Let them compare the two books to see how they have changed.
