They can keep these booklets at their desks to pull out when they need them. The directions are easy for them to follow independently.

Activities in this 28 page Earth Day Activity Book include:

• Rhyming Words
• Mazes
• Tracing
• Dot to Dot
• Letter Search

· a matching center activity

· a clip card center activity

· various worksheets

These activities are perfect for your literacy or word work centers during the month of April.

Earth Day Bingo - Syllables

Your K and 1st-grade students will have fun finding Earth Day words on their bingo cards.

Materials:
• A Bingo card for each student. (25 cards) These Bingo cards have 25 squares, with pictures representing Earth Day vocabulary.
• Letter cards to draw and call.
• Picture identification cards

How to Play:
• Show the picture identification cards to the students so they can identify the pictures on their Bingo cards.
• Give each student a Bingo card and something to cover the spaces when a letter is called. (You can use unifix cubes or pompoms etc)
• The teacher draws a call-out card and calls out the letter (E,A,R,T or H) and a NUMBER 1-3. If a picture with that amount of syllables is on a player’s card under the letter called, its square may be covered with a marker. (You will need to call out the call out cards multiple times,)
• When a player has a full line straight across a row, or straight down a column, he yells out "bingo!" and wins the game.

Board Variations To keep the game exciting, you can change the winning board layout. For example, the first person to form an "x" across his or her board wins, or the first person to have a diagonal line. Other variations include four corners, or all the squares on their card.
