Combining sentences helps improve the quality of the writing and encourages interesting word choices and transition words, and leads to longer, more complex sentences.  The objective for December is to use transition words and combine sentences. This month only has 3 weeks of booklets to accommodate Christmas holidays. The last week uses Christmas pictures to sequence events.

They are an effective way for young students to practice and improve their communication skills without actually having to write.  With this resource you get 2 glyphs. The first glyph is a cut and paste Christmas glyph, the second one is just coloring. Plus everything you will need to analyze the data with your class after they are finished creating their glyphs.

Do you want great practice for Christmas thematic vocabulary? Simply print and laminate these picture cards/sentence cards to “hide” in the classroom.  The students should find a word/sentence posted in your classroom and write it in the correct box on the recording sheet.  There are three levels of the recording sheets so you can differentiate this activity.

Students and their families will have fun doing activities such as:  · After reading a story to you child discuss the plot (problem and solution)  · As you read to your child leave out some of the words and let them guess the missing words  · Make a list of words that rhyme with pink.  · Draw a map of your house  There is an activity for every weekday. (Does not include weekends or holidays.)
Editable!  If you have specific objectives this month that are not included you can edit each day’s item by highlighting the text you want to change and typing a new skill.
